Each strike leaves a permanent impression. Machine engraving uses a rotating bit to cut a precise, uniform line into the surface. It’s clean and consistent, and it’s what most shops use. Hand stamping produces a slightly different look — the impressions aren’t perfectly uniform, and that’s intentional. The slight variation between each letter is part of what makes it handmade. You do the stamping yourself during the workshop, with guidance — the instructor shows you the technique, and you choose the characters and placement.
